"Only while the clock is striking 12, is she changed back from a sheep. But he appears every hour… …and waits for her."
A Grand Day Out with Wallace & Gromit (1989)
Steamscape: Coxo. The morning sun is still behind the ridges to the east as D&RGW K-36 #488 claws her way past the little yellow telephone box at Coxo, with a short Cumbres Turn. The temperature inversion and the dead-calm winds on this chilly October morning cause the 488’s plume to stagnate near the ground, inscribing her path in the tree-tops over the past half mile. The locomotive is working hard in this stretch, and her stack-talk is audible for miles up and down the Chama Valley. She’s into the home stretch, with just about 2 grueling miles to go to reach her destination at the 10,000 ft high Cumbres Pass. That’s the way it is. It’s down there and I’m in here. I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.
